What is the best way to store Kilne knives?
The Kilne Magnetic Strip or Magnetic Knife Block to is the best home to safely store your knives. Storing knives flat in a drawer is not recommended, as it can potentially damage or dull knives. - +-
What are the knives made of?
Kilne knives are made with high-grade X50CrMoV15 German steel with a Polyoxymethylene handle. The blades are crafted to stay sharp for precision cutting and the solid steel from tip to tail gives exceptional strength and perfect balance.
X50CrMoV15 breakdown:
X — Stainless Steel - High-grade German Steel for precision cutting.
50 — Carbon Content - 0.5% carbon offers good hardness, which results in good edge retention. The blade stays sharper, longer.
Cr — Chromium - Ensures high rust resistance in the finish of the blades.
Mo — Molybdenum - Increases toughness and reduces the likelihood of chipping.
V — Vanadium - Improves grain structure and durability to reduce wear.
15 — Chromium Content - 15% chromium increases the resistance to oxidation and corrosion and allows the classification of ‘stainless steel'. - +-
What is the Rockwell Hardness of the knives?
Kilne knives are 56 HRC, a standard for everyday knives. This slightly softer steel is much easier to sharpen than harder, more brittle, steels. The edge is more likely to roll over—and less likely to chip—and can generally be corrected simply by honing the blade. - +-
What is the angle and bevel of the knife blades?
The majority of our knives (any non-serrated knife) have a double bevel 'V' edge, with a 13° edge angle on each side of the blade, for a total inclusive angle of 26°.
Our serrated knives, our Bread Knife and Steak Knives, have a single bevel edge, with a 13° edge angle. - +-
Are the knives fully-forged?
Yes, Kilne knives are fully-forged. A single bar of steel is heated and hammered into shape, creating a durable, long-lasting blade. - +-
What does full tang mean?
Full tang means one piece of steel goes through the blade and into the handle. This construction provides balance and eliminates weak spots.
- +-
How should I sharpen Kilne knives?
Kilne knives should be sharpened using the Kilne Sharpening Steel and the Water Knife Sharpener. The Sharpening Steel helps align the small teeth on the edge of the knives, and the Water Knife Sharpener helps to create new teeth as they wear over time.
Serrated knives, such as the Kilne Bread Knife and Steak Knives, need to be sharpened less often and differently. Invest in a ceramic sharpening rod (do not use the Kilne Sharpening Steel) or take your serrated knives to a professional for sharpening. - +-
How often should I sharpen Kilne knives?
Although Kilne knives will stay sharper longer than other knives, we still recommend you sharpen them often. We recommend honing your knife using the Sharpening Steel every five uses or so, it only takes a few seconds and will make a huge difference to the functionality of the blade. The Water Knife Sharpener should only be used after a few months of daily use.
Serrated knives, such as the Kilne Bread Knife and Steak knives, need to be sharpened less often and differently. - +-
What type of cutting board is best for these knives?
To avoid damage, always use a wood or plastic cutting board. We recommend using the Kilne Cutting Board. Do not cut onto metal, glass, or stone surfaces as this will dull and/or damage your knives. - +-
How should I clean Kilne knives?
To keep your knives in good condition, we recommend washing by hand, and towel-drying immediately after. A little TLC goes a long way. However, Kilne knives are dishwasher safe. Wash your knives before first use. - +-

What makes Kilne's non-stick coating different from others?
Our non-stick ceramic coating is a patented technological application that combines extreme hardness and durability with excellent non-stick properties, forming a glass-like, hydro-repellent surface. A complex application process creates improved non-stick performance. Our non-stick is the best ever achieved from a ceramic coating, lasting 4x longer than other non-stick, is anti-scratch, and compatible with metal utensils for when you need them. It is made with non-toxic materials, and is free from all PFAs, including PTFEs, PFOAs, nickel, and heavy metals, so you can cook for friends and family with peace of mind.
In an anti-adhesiveness burned milk test, the Everything Pan outperformed standard ceramic pans by over 93%, and in an abrasion stress test, the Everything Pan endured 198,000 more test cycles of abrasive scrubbing and rotating marbles than standard ceramic pans. - +-
Is the non-stick coating toxic?
Our coating is completely natural and non-toxic. It is a revolutionized health-conscious, eco-friendly coating composed of inorganic materials and natural solvents like water and alcohol. It is free from all PFAs including PFOA (Perfluorooctanoic acid), PTFEs (Polytetrafluoroethylene, also know as Teflon), nickel or any other heavy metal components. We also refrain from using any form of hard anodization. - +-
What are the Kilne Everything Pots and Pans made of?
Kilne pots and pans have a high-thickness aluminum bodies made from 100% recycled aluminum, ferromagnetic steel bases, and stainless steel handles. The exteriors are finished with an easy-clean and anti-stain silicon matte lacquer. The interior ceramic cooking surfaces are a patented non-toxic non-stick.
Note that like any well-loved pot or pan, the exterior is likely to stain after prolonged use and exposure to heat, oils, and food residue. Clean your pots and pans after every use once cooled to keep them looking their best. For set stains, we recommend a light scrub with Scrub Daddy Power Paste. - +-
Do the Everything Pots and Pans come with a warranty?
The pots and pans come with a 3 year limited warranty against manufacturing, coating defects and abnormal decrease in non-stick performance. Non-stick coatings will always wear with use and over time, but we're confident with proper care, your Everything Pots and Pans will outlast comparable non-stick cookware. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear of products. Any items claimed as defective for warranty purposes may need to be shipped back for inspection. Check out our warranty page for more details. - +-
Can I still use the pot/pan if the non-stick is scratched?
Since The Everything Pots and Pans are made with non-toxic materials and the non-stick coating has been formulated to penetrate multiple surface layers, unlike other non-sticks, they can be continued to be safely used even if there are minor scratches. - +-
How much do the pots and pans weigh?
The pan weighs 2.73 lbs. The total weight of the pan with the lid is 4.26 lbs.
The mini pan weighs 2.17 lbs. The total weight of the mini pan with the lid is 3.31 lbs.
The pot weighs 2.75 lbs. The total weight of the pot with its lid is 3.89 lbs.
The mini pot weighs 2.125 lbs. The total weight of the pot with its lid is 2.89 lbs. - +-
Where are the pots and pans made?
The pots and pans are meticulously and sustainably crafted in Italy with electric energy. - +-
What type of cooking can I use my pans for?
The Everything Pan is designed to replace nine pieces of cookware. Use your pan to fry, sear, sauté, simmer, broil, boil, bake, roast and everything in between. It's deep enough for a big one-pan meal or even to make soups and stews. Plus it's beautiful enough to serve dishes straight from the kitchen to your table, while also looking great on your stove when not in use. The Mini Pan can be used in the same way and is perfect for side dishes, sauces or single servings.
Please note that both the handle and the knob on the lid on The Everything Pan will likely get hot when cooking (especially in the oven!). Use oven mitts or a tea towel when handling. - +-
What type of cooking can I use my pots for?
The Everything Pot is designed to replace up to 12 pieces of cookware when paired with The Non-Stick Steamer (or 10 on its own). You can deep fry, sear, steam, strain, stew, sauté, bake, braise, broil, boil, roast, and serve! From pasta perfection to beautifully braised meat, the pot is equipped with a self-basting, steam-release lid to provide ultimate versatility for your culinary adventures. The Mini Pot can be used in the same way and is perfect for side dishes, sauces or single servings.
Please note that both handles on The Everything Pot are helper handles and will likely get hot when cooking (especially in the oven!). Use oven mitts or a tea towel when handling. - +-
What utensils should I use with the pots/pans?
Silicon or wood utensils are perfect for your cookware's non-stick coating. You can use metal utensils as Kilne cookware is more scratch-resistant than typical non-stick cookware, but we don't recommend they be used every time you cook as they can wear the non-stick surface at a faster rate. - +-
Do I need to use oil in my pots/pans?
Yes, but you don't need as much oil as a typical stainless steel pot/pan. You can use just enough oil to provide a protective barrier between the food and the ceramic – no need to cover the whole surface.
Avoid dry-heating your cookware (leaving it empty on a hot burner) as this could damage the coatings. Add oil and preheat for only a minute or two prior to use. - +-
What is the maximum temperature I can use?
The pots and pans are all oven rated for up to 400°C/750°F, or up to 250°C/480°F with the lids. Note that our handles and knobs are made of stainless steel and will likely get hot when cooking (especially in the oven!). Use oven mitts or a tea towel when handling.
While you can cook on almost any heat level with your pots/pans on the stovetop, we generally recommend using low-medium heat as constantly cooking at high temperatures may cause the non-stick surface to wear at a faster rate (just like putting your clothes in the dryer has a tendency to wear them out faster). The high-thickness aluminum bodies are designed to heat quickly and evenly, so you shouldn't need to cook higher than medium in most instances. Avoid dry-heating your cookware (leaving it empty on a hot burner) as this could damage the coatings. Add oil and preheat for only a minute or two prior to use. All non-stick coatings will slowly wear off with frequent use. With proper care and cleaning, Kilne cookware is designed to last for years! - +-
You recommend low-medium heat on stovetops, how is Kilne cookware also high-heat oven safe?
Stovetops and ovens differ in the way they heat pots and pans. Your stovetop creates a direct heat source that mostly heats the bottom of pots and pans (which is why low-medium is generally all you need) whereas oven heat cookware from all sides in tandem, meaning while the heat may be higher, it is less direct.
Think of a sauce that could benefit from browning, like a red sauce. If you heat it on the stove, you will get that browning from only the bottom of the pot or pan, and you will have to stir it fairly regularly so that the bottom doesn't start to burn. In an oven, you are gently heating the pot or pan from every side. As it simmers, the sauce at the top gets browned by the oven and it gets moved around due to convection from the simmering process, resulting in a deeper, richer sauce. - +-
How should I clean my pot/pan?
To keep your pots and pans in the best shape we recommend hand-washing (a non-abrasive brush works great!). While they are also dishwasher safe, intensive use of dishwasher may cause the non-stick coating to wear more rapidly and will void the 3 year limited warranty.
If the non-stick isn't working quite right: Try boiling water with a few tablespoons of baking soda. Usually if sticking occurs, it's due to a thin film or stuck on food residue over the coating. This should remove that and get you slipping and sliding again!
Note that like any well-loved pot or pan, the exterior is likely to look dirty or stain after prolonged use an exposure to heat, oils and food residue. Clean your pot or pan after every use once it's cooled to keep it looking it's best. For set stains, we recommend a light scrub (with a very minimally or non-abrasive sponge) with Scrub Daddy Power Paste. - +-
Why are there two different colours of the non-stick?
We're constantly aiming to improve and update our products to give you the best cooking experience. The light grey surface on our newly released colours (Fig, Dijon, Smoke, and Blueberry) is simply a slightly new and updated version of our patented longer-lasting ceramic non-stick. - +-
How do I keep the non-stick in good shape and long-lasting?
While you can cook on almost any heat level with your pots/pans on the stovetop, we generally recommend using low-medium heat (for most cooking, this is all you need!) as constantly cooking at high temperatures may cause the non-stick surface to wear at a faster rate (just like putting your clothes in the dryer has a tendency to wear them out faster). All non-stick coatings will slowly wear off with frequent use. With proper care and cleaning, Kilne cookware is designed to last for years!
We recommend using high smoke point (400°F or higher) oils like high-quality olive, canola, grapeseed, safflower, sesame, and sunflower; and fats like refined coconut, avocado, peanut, and clarified butter (like ghee). When oils get too hot they can leave behind residue that is difficult to clean. If you're overheating your pot/pan or using high heat for extended periods, hard-to-clean residue and breakdown of the cooking surface may occur regardless.
We recommend hand-washing to keep your pots and pans performing their best. Let cool before submerging in water as extreme temperature changes could cause deterioration of the non-stick coating. - +-
How do I keep the exterior of my pots/pans stain free and looking like new?
The lighter the colour of your pot or pan, the more susceptible it will be to staining. To keep your pots/pans in the best shape possible, wash both the interior and exterior of the pot or pan promptly after cooking (we recommend letting the pot or pan cool prior to washing, but tough exterior messes can also be wiped away right after cooking to avoid setting). Not washing the exterior of your pots and pans between uses makes stains more likely to set when re-exposed to heat (especially on gas stoves), and therefore much harder to remove.
Note that like any well-loved pot or pan, the exterior is likely to look dirty or stain after prolonged use an exposure to heat, oils and food residue. For set stains, we recommend a light scrub (with a very minimally or non-abrasive sponge) with Scrub Daddy Power Paste. - +-
How should I store my pots and pans?
Hang them on the wall, a pot rack, or stack them carefully with other pots and pans—just be sure they are separatedusing a soft cloth material. The Kilne Magnetic Cookware Storage is also a great solution for keeping pots, pans, and lids organized and separated to avoid scratches. - +-
Are the pots and pans stovetop and oven safe?
Yes. All Kilne pots and pans are rated for use on any type of stovetop and have ferromagnetic bases for use on induction ranges. They are all rated for use in the oven (without the lids) up to 400°C/750°F. - +-
Are the pot and pan lids oven safe?
The lids are oven rated up to 250°C/480°F. - +-
Why are there bumps on the inside of the lid?
These bumps allow the pots and pans to be self-basting. This is most important when slow cooking on the stovetop. They are designed to return moisture to all areas of your cooking, effectively continually basting them. Steam hits the cool lid, condenses, and returns to all areas of the pots/pans. Without these bumps, condensing moisture can only run down the sides of the pots/pans. - +-
Why are there a holes in the pot lids?
This is a steam-release hole to prevent pressure build up and lid rattling when you’re cooking with your pot. - +-
Will the handle/lid knob get hot?
Yes. The handles and the knobs on the lids are made of stainless steel, which conducts heat and will get hot when exposed to a heat source – especially in the oven.
To mitigate this issue, our new pots and pan feature a hollow knob that's less heat conductive, but always take caution with metal objects near a heat source as they will still get hot. On the stove, provided the long handle isn't over a burner that is on, it should stay cool enough to the touch. - +-
Will my cookware warp?
The pots and pans are manufactured with anti-warping in mind. The rim of the pan is 4.5mm specifically to prevent warping. - +-
What are the dimensions of the pots and pans?
The diameter of the pan is 11" and is a height of 2.2". The full length with handle is 19.75".
The diameter of the mini pan is 9.5" and is a height of 2.125". The full length with handle is 18".
The pot has a 9.5” diameter (top opening) and is 13.375” wide including the handles. It's 4.5” high and has a 4.375” cooking depth.
The mini pot has a 8” diameter (top opening) and is 16.375” wide including the handle. It's 3.75” high and has a 3.625” cooking depth. - +-
What are the dimensions of the lids?
The diameter of the pan lid is 11.375".
The diameter of the mini pot lid is 8.25".
The diameter of the pot lid/mini pan lid is 9.875”.
All the lids are approximately 2" in height (including the knob). - +-

Where is Kilne dinnerware made?
Kilne dinnerware is meticulously and eco-consciously crafted in Portugal, just south of Porto.
All of our dinnerware is fully recyclable and produced using an eco-friendly single-fire production that reduces emissions and has overall energy savings of up to 70%. Processes involving water are responsibly managed, including treating and reusing wastewater for cleaning purposes. - +-
What is the dinnerware made of?
All our dinnerware is stoneware ceramic. Stoneware refers to a particular type of non-porous ceramic material made from stoneware clay. It is thicker and more durable than other types of ceramics and gets its name from its stone-like qualities.
Kilne dinnerware is manufactured in a single firing system heated up to 1180ºC (2160ºF), making it incredibly strong and durable, and creating a unique ceramic body with a special bonding between the clay and the glazed surface. The glazed surface is fully vitrified (fired at a high heat to create strength and durability), which gives it high resistance to both thermal and mechanical shocks.
Both our clay and glazes are manufactured using a significant percentage of recycled materials. Our charcoal-coloured clay is made from 90% recycled materials, created by collecting and reusing clays and glazes from internal manufacturing operations. The raw materials used are crafted using the best natural resources in Portugal to minimize our ecological footprint. - +-
What makes Kilne dinnerware unique?
The Portuguese craftsmanship that goes into our dinnerware combines the best of European craft tradition with the latest technologies. All our dinnerware is organically shaped, or slightly irregular with a hand-made feel and has semi-matte glaze finish.
Imperfections such as spotting or a slightly imperfect glaze edge are completely normal and simply add to these beautifully unique pieces. - +-
What is the finish of the glaze like?
The semi-matte glaze has a smooth finish. However, imperfections such as spotting, or a slightly imperfect edge where the glaze meets the clay, are completely normal and simply add to the beauty of these unique pieces. - +-
Is the dinnerware non-toxic?
Yes. All our dinnerware (or stoneware ceramics) are free from lead and cadmium and guaranteed to be food-safe, complying with International Standards. - +-
Is the dinnerware microwave and dishwasher safe?
Yes! All our dinnerware is dishwasher safe, oven (or toaster oven!), and microwave safe up to 250°C (480°F). Avoid extreme temperature changes (like straight from the freezer to the oven) to prevent cracking. Use caution as dinnerware will get hot in the microwave and oven, and always use oven mitts or a tea towel when handling directly from a heat source. - +-
What about use in the oven or the freezer?
You can absolutely use your dinnerware in the fridge or freezer down to -20°C (-4°F). Avoid extreme temperature changes (like straight from the freezer to the oven) to prevent cracking. - +-
Will the dinnerware scratch?
Due to the semi-matte finish, all dinnerware is susceptible to superficial marks and scratches from flatware. These can generally be removed with a bit of a scrub, some scouring powder, and a non-abrasive brush. - +-
Are mugs included in The Dinnerware Set?
The Dinnerware Set includes The Dinner, The Salad Plates, The Entrée and The Breakfast Bowls. However, you can always add The Coffee Mugs to your order if you're looking for matching drinkware! - +-

Is acacia wood safe for kitchen use?
Acacia’s natural durability makes it the perfect material for in the kitchen, as it is naturally antibacterial, heat resistant, highly resistant to fungus, and won’t warp. Its durability means it won’t scratch easily, and since it is highly-sustainable it is also an eco-friendly option.
When using wood cutting boards for raw meat or poultry, wash thoroughly immediately after use. Liquids that come from the meat when cut can be absorbed into the wood when left to pool for long periods of time. This absorption has the potential to grow harmful bacteria. - +-
What is the best way to clean my Kilne acacia wood products?
Acacia wood products should be hand-washed with warm, soapy water and a gentle (non-abrasive) sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or steel wool. Do not soak or submerge in water. Immediately towel-dry after washing and let air dry completely. Wash before first use. - +-
How do I care for my Kilne acacia wood products?
Extend the lifespan of acacia wood products by applying a protective layer of food-safe oil every month or so, depending on use. Keep away from direct heat sources and out of direct sunlight.
Food safe mineral oil or Linseed oil, (also known as flaxseed oil or flax oil) are great options for reviving the surface of your cutting boards. These oils will saturate deep into the wood grain to protect against scratches, changes in humidity and keep your board from drying out. They are non-toxic and eco-friendly, and produce a satin finish that really brings out the colour and grain of the wood underneath. - +-
How many knives can the wall-mounted Magnetic Strip hold?
We recommend hanging no more than three knives from the Magnetic Strip for optimal balance/safety. However, the strip can hold all four knives from the Knife Set or all six steak knives from the Steak Knife Set. The Magnetic Stripis not designed for storing your Kilne Shears or Sharpening Steel. - +-
How should I mount the Magnetic Strip on my wall?
The Magnetic Strip has built-in mounting keyholes on the back and comes with mounting hardware. Use drywall anchors if necessary for extra support.
Horizontal wall mounting is recommended for optimal security. For safety, attach knives with the handle pointing down and knife blade pointing up. - +-
Can I restore the surface of my Cutting Board?
If your cutting board becomes deeply scratched or damaged, you can restore the surface by following the steps below:
1. Clean and disinfect the board. Wipe with vinegar, rinse with warm water, and wipe dry. Next, sprinkle with coarse salt and scrub salt into the board with half of a lemon (the lemon juice further disinfects while the salt works out any grit).
2. Sand the board lightly to remove imperfections. Then, reapply oil to restore its finish.
3. Your cutting board is once again ready to use. Depending on the level of use, recondition your board with oil every month or so. - +-
Tell me more about the design of the trivet.
The slotted triangular design of the trivet allows for more airflow and therefore faster cooling. Acacia wood is a naturally antibacterial, durable and heat resistant, making it an ideal choice for kitchen tools and accessories. - +-
How should I clean and care for my trivet?
To clean your trivet, ensure it's cooled completely, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Do not put it in the dishwasher or submerge in water for extended periods of time. - +-
How do I put the pieces of my trivet together?
The holes on each of the three pieces are larger on one side than the other. The large side of the holes should face inwards towards the centre of the triangle that is being formed.

Help! My Cutting Board is sliding around on the countertop when I'm trying to use it.
To keep your Cutting Board in one place, grab a cloth or tea towel and run it under some water. Wring it until damp. Lay it flat on the countertop and then place your cutting board on it. The damp towel acts as a grip and will keep your board in place.
